Annual review A yearly review of a Statement of SEN
AT Attainment Targets
Connexions Service A service to help all young people aged 13 19 prepare for the transition to adult life
CPPS Croydon Parent Partnership Service
Early education Settings All preschool education provision
EP Education Psychologist
EWO Education Welfare Officer
IPS Independent Parental Supporter - someone who can support parents of children who have special educational needs
LEA Local Education Authority
LSA Learning Support Assistants - these may also be known as:
PSA - Pupil Support Assistants
TA - Teacher Assistants
 
Mainstream School Ordinary School, which is for all children, not just for those with SEN. Normally a State School
Maintained School A State School
Named Officer The person at the LEA who deals with your child's case
NC National Curriculum
OT Occupational Therapy
OFSTED Office for Standards in Education
Outside Agencies Professionals who are not part of the mainstream school staff
SALT Speech and Language Therapy
SATs Standard Attainment Targets
SEN Special Educational Needs
SEN COP Special Educational Needs Code of Practice
SENCO Special Educational Needs Coordinator
SEN Tribunal Special Educational Needs Tribunal, which deals with appeals against LEA decisions
School Action Extra support given to children who are experiencing learning difficulties
School Action Plus Increased support, beyond that offered at 'School Action'
Special Educational Provision The extra or different help give to children with special educational needs
Transition Plan A plan drawn up after the Year 9 annual Statement Review. It sets out the steps needed to move from school to adult life
